Chiefly on Prayer

"We must lay before Him what is in us, not what ought to be in us." -- C.S. Lewis, Letters to Malcolm: Chiefly on Prayer

What is in your heart?
Are you carrying baggage?

Matthew 11:28

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Psalm 30:5

For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

THE FABRIC OF LIFE

   Guatemala 2015 Team Members

LIFE IS A FABRIC INTRICATELY WOVEN BY THE FIBERS OF OUR EXPERIENCES.  ~Randi G. Fine

My belief has long been that each person is a sum of their experiences.  Pivotal to our experiences is our relationship with God.  Our walk with Jesus really determines who we are as children of God.  Nothing short of a right relationship with Jesus will bring us into oneness with our savior.  From our unity he can teach us, mold us, and shape us, into the people we strive to become, and bless us with talents and skills to do His work.  I believe it is the recognition that we can do nothing without Him, and  reliance upon Jesus in all things, that brings us into that right relationship to God.

Calvin
He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers.  Exodus 35:35

For we know, brothers and sisters[b] loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.  Thesalonians 1:4-5

In our meeting this week we discussed our approach to our mission work with the hope of leaving a gentle impression rather than being overbearing.  Our desire is to be a mission of listening and sharing rather than trying to solve situations we may not know how.  We began to define our roles as team members this week.  Minding our roles in our walk with Jesus.  Striving to follow the example Jesus has provided and allowing Him to weave us into the fabric of His design.  Each role being crucial to the success of the mission and each team member being a unique thread in the fabric of life.

Psalm 23: 1-2 - The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures.  He leads me beside quite waters.

Salmos 23: 1-2 - El Senor es mi pastor, nada mi falta; en verdes pastos me hace  descansar.  Junto a tranquilas aguas me conduce.

Evan

  The Weaver
My Life is but a weaving
between my Lord and me;

I cannot choose the colors
He worketh steadily.

Oft times He weaveth sorrow
And I, in foolish pride,
Forget He sees the upper,
And I the under side.

Not til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver's skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.
Bill

He knows, He loves, He cares,
Nothing this truth can dim.

He gives His very best to those
Who leave the choice with Him.

On The Road Again

 Guatemala 2015

"On the Road Again" is a song made famous by country music singer Willie Nelson. The song, about life on tour, came about when the executive producer of Honeysuckle Rose approached Nelson about writing the song. "On the Road Again"

Lyrics

  • Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
    On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again,
And I can't wait to get on the road again.
  • On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
    We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
    And our way
    Is on the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
  • On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
    We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
    And our way
    Is on the road again
  • Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
And I can't wait to get on the road again

After our first meeting last week I feel like I am back on track or that the team is back on the road again.  The team had much to discuss at our first meeting.  The team is led by Mark Slaybaugh who is making his fourth trip and he is joined by five of Hope's finest youth and four adults.  Mark's  devotional focused on Humble Service in the Body of Christ.  His scripture reading from Romans 12:3-21 discusses much about humble service.  I was particularly struck by the key point of  Love In Action.  9)  Love must be sincere.  Hate what is evil; and cling to what is good.  10)  Be devoted to one another in love.  Honor one another above yourselves.   11)  Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.  12)  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.  13)  Share with the Lord's people who are in need.  Practice hospitality.

I want to invite all of you who read this to pray for our team and support us in our mission to serve in love the people of Guatemala and Groundwork Guatemala.
